"How the Fender Bass Changed the World" is a wonderful read with lots of pictures. A great addition to any bassists library.

The other books "Progressive Repetoire for Double Bass" and "30 Etudes for String Bass" are excellent classical etude books. We all need musical ways to practice our scales, arpeggios, inversions, string crossing, etc... these books provide some good ones for yourself or for your students.
