Area J Jazz pickups
Arrived last week, installed them for 2 practices and one show. These are really great pickups, but I am going back to true single coil Nordstrand NJ4 70s wound.
Leads are soldered as shown on all pickups, with the black and white wires cut and spliced below the pickup. This helps keep the noise down, trust me. They can be extended if you want to mess around with coil tapping. I do not cut any length off of the red/green wires so you have all the original wire left to solder to your pots.

Model J Pickups.
I bought these used. These fell apart on me. Explination: The glue that dimarzio uses will not stand up to the pressure that Fender pickup foam puts on the pickups (and as such you must use the foam that is provided with the pickups, and not your Fender rubber foam). So I did what anybody else would do in my position, glue them back together! They work and sound the same as before, just a full disclosure here.
On the neck pickup, a piece of plastic spacer was lost. No functionality is lost without this spacer. I tried to take a picture to represent their condition, the bridge pickup was installed much longer and used much more than the neck pickup and the cover shows. Wires are spliced same as above.

Ultra Jazz Pickup
Installed for a tiny bit (2 practices, 1 show). Did not like the sound myself, but this is a very desired bridge pickup and I can see why. Loads of bark, very hot, lots of lows. Mid scooped. Bright top.
