These pickups sound great, are very quiet because they are stacked humbuckers, and have that classic-yet-modern tonality that really makes for a wonderful tone.
Staggered, standard sizing. Will fit most any J bass with standard sized pickups (3.6" and 3.73"). Have plenty of lead left on them.
Removed from an 02 USA Jazz Deluxe.
The issue that was occurring in this particular bass was a current going between the pole pieces and the string on a bass with an Audere preamp. What that means is, the insulation inside of the pickup is getting bad.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR A BUYER?
Well, the pickups work fine and will do so for a long time to come. They will work just fine in a passive bass, and even most active basses that use passive components before the preamp (Aguilar, Fender, Sadowsky, etc.).
The insulation breakdown only seems to come into play when the pickups are installed in a
BUFFERED INPUT, which are found on EAST or AUDERE preamps.
And even with those, fellow TB'ers fixed the problem with electrical tape on the pole pieces.
That was for full disclosure. I don't want to surprise anyone with that discovery.
So in essence, if you are looking to make a passive, basic Jazz bass sound like a much nicer, passive Jazz bass, these pickups are a steal.
If you like active, as long as you don't have a buffered pre, you'll have no issues.
Allparts sells these new for $204... so these are a steal at
$50 $40 shipped, paypal and USA only.
Elsewhere, PM me. Sold AS-IS. I got all of the info from fellow TB'ers who know more about pickups than I do.
I'd use the pickups myself, but don't have a J project right now and need money more.
