I got this a few months ago with plans of doing a Jazz build, but after getting reacquainted with my trusty StingRay lately, I've decided to hold off for awhile.
Anyway, it's a fully loaded, American made, Jazz-profile, Fender neck from a 1990 JP-90. It has very little fret wear, and still looks pretty good for 21 years old. The pics don't do justice for the nice rosewood board, seems my phone doesn't like sunlight (the headstock pic best represents it's color). The satin finish on the back has turned a bit shiny (as usual), and feels smooth with no major dings to distract while playing. I've read around here how folks compare the feel of these necks to the Geddy Lee Jazz, but YMMV.
The headstock makes this neck unique, in how it's slimmed down, just like the Jazz Plus basses of the same era. Also, the truss adjustment is at the heel, making it from one of the earliest JP-90s Fender produced. These seem fairly uncommon, especially with this configuration. It still has the original
"Licensed by Schaller" tuners in good shape, original string guide, the nut is in good condition, and it is ready for action.
When I first got it, I (carefully!!) assembled it to my 2011 American Standard Precision for a short bit. It fit the neck pocket perfectly, way better than I would have expected. And with just a little truss adjustment, it achieved great, low, even action, with no buzz at all (strung with D'Addario ECB80 XL Chromes). Believe me when I say it's hard to part with this neck, and I may have a change of heart soon.
