This is a 1 rackspace, mono analog compressor with tape distortion and fixed "side-chain" settings under digital control. It sounds good on bass without even trying. The manual is informative and clearly written. The front panel is well designed: 4 clearly-marked large white knobs for input, Attack, Release, and Output, are easy to see in even the dimmest light. 16 LEDs show gain reduction (clearly marked from -1 to -26dB) better than the usual meter. Its very easy to see what's going on. One button toggles through Ratio/threshold settings of 1:1 (for uncompressed "warming" in distortion mode), 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1, 10:1, 20:1, "nuke" (hard limiter), each with different preset knee responses. It has a very accurate "true bypass" that makes it easy to toggle between the uncompressed and compressed sounds.
