I am trying to replace the beautiful white pearloid pickguard on the P-bass in the photos below with a tortoise shell pickguard. If anyone wants to trade a nice tort guard for my pearloid, please let me know.
I bought the P-bass in the Fall of 2010, and discovered several months later that the plastic was still on the guard, so I removed the plastic and saw how truly sparkly the guard is! Its really a nice guard. I am just wanting the more traditional look of the tort guard with it.
I did modify it with a truss rod adjustment slot notch, which I did myself with excellent results. I can provide a picture of that if you would like.
The pics were taken shortly after I bought the bass, but I can send or post more current pics if anyone wants that. The P-bass does see occasional stage action in very tame environments since all I do are jazz gigs and private parties/weddings. I usually go for my J-bass as my main bass, so this guard has spent a lot of time in the case.
I do not know the origin of the guard, but it is a high quality guard. And it has some really nice karma attached to it since the base that it is on was purchased in a dream deal here on TB whereby the seller was leaving the US and was generous and trusting enough to send me the bass in exchange for my $100 deposit and promise of the balance on sale of another of my basses.
$25 shipped for a sale. CONUS only, please. '97 P-bass
