I traded for this Jon Hill PJ with the intent of replacing the pickups with a Nordstrand NPJ4SV set that I originally purchased for an 08 American Standard P-Bass. I had never heard of Jackson Pickups but was quite suprised how good they were. Still their tone is more EMG modern'ish, more articulate, than the ballsy growl of the Nordys.
I included a lot of pictures with a ruler because the P pups are deeper and about a 32nd of an inch L and W than the Nordy NP4s. Don't know for sure but you might have to file a pickguard a wee bit if you have a Fender. Check your measurements. The bridge J is exactly the same size as the Nordstrand NJ4SV.
The epoxy filling and the shielded leads make these babies dead quiet. They would work well with an onboard preamp. Also the Hill had 500K Ohm pots which also helped with their clarity. I changed them with 250K pots to mellow the Nordys. The Jacksons will work with either impedance
