This is an alder body with a flamed maple top from a MIM "Factory Special Run" Fender Jazz bass. Produced somewhere around 2001 or so, featuring a 'cherry sunburst' or 'cherryburst' finish. The top may or may not be 'real' flamed maple (could be photoflame), I can't tell. Gorgeous body, as you can see. I can try and locate the upper horn strap button, before shipping.

I'd like $175 SHIPPED, OBO for this thing. I would also trade it for a pair of Darkstars (plus cash, if you'd like), a pair of Peavey T-40 pickups with mounting hardware and rings, or maybe even an SX or Squier P bass plus cash on your end. Run anything by me except for pedals.

+++ Also available is the pearloid pickguard in the first pic. 10 holes, no flaws, going for $12 shipped (already packed, so there's no other pics) otherwise, we can work a deal if you'd like it with the body.

Price dropped, $200 shipped or best offer. I'd trade down + cash on your end if you've got something I want or think I need!

Question Flamed maple or Fotoflame ?

I've searched everywhere and couldn't find ANY info on MIM FSR's having flamed maple tops OR fotoflame jobs.
If either finishes were an option on this run could someone verify it ?
I'm pretty interested and have been trying to work with TheEmptyCell on this.

Thanks !

This is hot. I would've bought the whole bass, but the body is hot alone. I don't have any use/money for the body. So good luck

Don't feel bad, 3rdBass, the only places Ive found info about these basses was on TalkBass, mostly in threads where these basses have been sold. Here's one:

FS/FT: MIM Fender Jazz FMT

I remember there being one for sale in a different color not too long ago. I'll keep Googling away and see what I come up with!

This was the response I got from Fender when I e-mailed them with the serial number. Maybe this will help someone out there bite at a truly awesome looking body.

Somebody better buy this soon, otherwise I won't be able to stop myself from rebuilding it!

Still on the market, I'd gladly trade down for certain items if you had new nickel roundwounds or Peavey T-40 parts, among other things.

Body for $175 shipped, or trade for for an SX P or PJ bass (P-width neck only), or whatever you might think I want!
