Yes, you use your existing plate. To use pickups already in your bass you will need to unsolder or cut the leads from the original harness. Install the new harness and couple the leads using wire nuts.

I would still solder instead of wire nuts, to me wire nuts is for the wiring in that ceiling fan in the living room
