FS/FT: Sansamp BDDI (3-switch) & Modded Sparkle Drive

Sign in to disble this ad
Both pedals in excellent condition with velcro on backs. Powered with one-spot on pedaltrain mini so no batteries inside.

SansAmp BDDI (3-switch) $135 Shipped
Working perfectly... does the whole SansAmp SVT vibe, character and personality. I have the original black and yellow Sansamp box.

Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive $100 Shipped - TRADED
- with bass/gain mod + bright LED
I had a Sparkle Drive for over a year for an original pop/rock gig I was doing, but I always wished it retained just a touch more low end. When I saw this one on ebay I snatched it up and have been using it for 6 months now. Guy I got it from on ebay did the mod and has modded loads of other pedals which all got great feedback. That's all I know about it. It retains more low end than a stock one, Gain knob has more total gain than stock, and the LED is an ultra-bright green.

I'd trade for or toward:

MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe
Nordstrand P-bass pickup
Nordstrand nj4se Jazz bridge pickup

I can probably put some together tomorrow evening.

The Sparkle Drive is a TubeScreamer clone, so it has kind of a modern grit or modern overdrive sound to it with the added benefit of being able to blend you normal tone back in with the Blend knob. Can go very subtle or much heavier.

I'd always use it along with my VT-bass. VT for my warm tubey sound with a bit of hair, then punch on the Sparkle Drive to add a modern edge to it for things like Evenescence, Blondie, etc in a cover band. The Tone knob also quite a bit of control in it. Sounds similar to a typical tone rolloff on a passive bass to me. Very edgy with tone all the way up and more muted with it all the way off. The pedal never gets muffled or boomy... that's just not it's character, but it does retain more low end than most TubeScreamer clones and the Blend knob is a god-send for creating complex tones with hair on them.

I've used them extensively with both dual humbucker, and Jazz/Musicman basses and it's very consistent in what it does with both. Very 'predictable' if that makes any sense.

ok... I just got back into town after being out of town for a week, but I tossed this quick test drive together.

This is played on a Schecter Studio5 mohagony neck-through with custom Kent Armstrong humbuckers in it and Aguilar OBP-3. DR Sunbeams on it for strings.
Here's how it sounds direct into my Presonus Firebox playing a recognizable bass line. http://artdroid.com/uploads/Schecter...Armstrongs.mp3

And here's a test-drive through different SparkleDrive settings. It starts out as a very mild grit/hair setting via the blend knob as I normally used it, then goes heavier as I go, and then back to my original slight grit/hair setting.

Hope that helps.

I have a modified sparkle drive and it's one of the permanent staples on my board. Between the costs of buying one, shipping it, and getting it modified, I definitely put more into it than is being asked here in this thread.

Someone pick it up; you won't be dissapointed if you want a good fuzz that cuts through. Since it has the built in blend knob, it is a sort of one-size-fits-all pedal.

Bump... it's on ebay for more money than here, which is still less money than every other 3-switch sansamp up on ebay.
