This is a lightly used Marcus Retro preamp from John East. This preamp has volume/blend, treble/bass (treble pulls out for treble boost), mid/mid selector and tone. It also has an active/passive switch and a blend shutoff switch (puts both pickups full on). This is designed to be a drop in replacement for the Marcus Miller Jazz Bass and is on a Marcus control plate but it could be re-fitted for other basses as well. This is a really nice unit. However, I am looking to simplify somewhat. This preamp provides a ton of versatility to any bass. These go for $350 brand new. I am asking $225 shipped CONUS. I prefer a sale but I will consider a trade (plus cash) for a 2 band on-board preamp from Aguilar, Sadowsky, Bartolini or possibly EMG. John East preamps are among the very finest onboard preamps available today. You can get specs on this at http://www.east-uk.com/.

The knobs look black in this picture but they are actually chrome.

hmmm

I am assuming this is the same one that will fit the five string version of Marcus as well???

If so, I may be interested if I can sell some things.

Yes, it should fit on the 5 string version. The size of the control plate is the same.

Yes, there is a tone knob (like what would be on a regular bass). The tone knob works in both passive and active modes.

It does not have black knobs. As I indicated under the picture, the knobs are chrome but in the picture they look black for some reason.
