I have five four three TWO brand new Wilkinson MM5 pickups without the box. They come with the screws and strings. No wiring instructions. But has 4 wires 2 hot and two ground.
These are EXACTLY the same size as the Stingray 5.
The JHS website in the UK lists these for 35 pounds, which comes to about $56 US dollars. So See this site: http://www.jhs.co.uk/wilkinson.html for details. There's even a picture of Trev Wilkinson himself. Never knew what the guy looked like. He apparently loves the Strat....
There aren't really many companies making the MM style pivkups in a 5-string and what's available is pretty expensive. Rent busters. You can pay $200 for a Duncan MM5, or $185 for a bartollini. Ouch.
So the price for these...Are you ready???
How about $29 shipped per pickup. What did he say??? Yep that's what I said....
If you buy three or more, I can knock $5 off of the total to compensate for shipping.
Photos are here:
Thanks,

FYI, I've used Wilkinson pickups in 5 different basses so far, (MM, MM/J, P/J and Jazz) and for the money you can't go wrong with these. Good sound/output and great quality at an increadibly low price. I consider these an upgrade to OLP MM and Korean/Chinese made P/J pickups. |

My older OLP actually has an alnico supposedly, I prefer the warmer sound of alnico.

My older OLP actually has an alnico supposedly, I prefer the warmer sound of alnico. | The earliest OLP Levins had Alnico pickups. The ceramic pickups have shiny polepieces with faint concentric circles. The Alnico polepieces are sand-cast and somewhat dull looking. If you pull the pickguard, the ceramic pickups have a four wire lead and the Alnico have a two wire lead.
These Wilkinson pickups are ceramic, you can see the bar magnets underneath the copper shielding. That said, these are significantly less noisy than the pickup I had in my MTD Kingston Artist. Bump for a good deal on some good pickups. |

Just finished installing one in an OLP bass that sounds pretty good. (great considering the price) I wired it using a s/p switch and V/T with USA CTS pots. Turned out killer. I gigged with it last night and will again tonight. My band couldn't believe it when I told them what I paid for the pickup. My guitar player just about started crying when he told me how much his lace sensors cost him. LOL.
Here's a pic just for fun.
Thanks again Jeff. |

Did the pickup drop right in, or did it take additional pickguard alterations?
Thx. |

Yes it dropped right in, no alterations needed. The larger sized USA CTS tone pots were a different story. I needed to open up the cavity a bit. Smaller "mini" pots would have been an easier way to go, but I didn't have any in stock. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
