This is the second Jazz Bass I have owned. The first was an American made Fender. This one I put together myself. After two Jazz style basses I have come to the conclusion that for me I just don't dig the tone. I love the way they play and feel on my body but just am not nuts for the tone. Sooooo.....
I am wanting to buy another Warwick so here is my Frankenjazzbass which I assembled about two years ago, the same bass in my Talkbass Avatar. It is for sale complete or in parts. Price is as follows and the story follows after that!
Bass as it is assembled $275 shipped – I will include a Ritter Gig Bag and a fresh uninstalled set of DR Black Beauties (it plays great and sounds like a stock Geddy Lee jazz)
Neck $160 shipped
Body $110 shipped with original bridge
Body with Bad Ass II bridge $140
Bad Ass II $40 shipped
Here is the body story:
I bought the body off of ebay from “Buildabass” the guy goes under the ebay username of slonk18 and he was great to deal with. Today he is selling the same bodies for a little more than I paid. However mine was damaged in shipping as seen below but repaired by the guitar shop who originally mounted the neck. It’s a good body but it’s not perfect.
The neck pocket is about 1/8” deeper than a standard Fender so I have shimmed it with a piece of cherry wood I had in my garage. Originally it was not shimmed and it played just fine except the neck was set into the body more than you would be used to seeing on a Jazz style bass.
The electronics are what came with it except I have replaced one of the volume controls with a balance instead of the typical V/V/T controls on a Jazz bass. That was done by me using an All Parts 500K balance pot. The schematic I followed was taken from Seymour Duncan’s website and can be provided if you’d like.
Lastly I have installed a Bad Ass II on it but if you want the body but not the bridge I still have the original bridge which is similar to the stock Fender. If you buy the body and Bad Ass I will also provide the original bridge.

Here is the story on the body:
The neck was purchased off of ebay by me unmounted. It was a blemished neck from All Parts. It is stamped on the heel as All Parts Licensed Fender Replacement or something like that. I drilled the original holes and like dummy drilled one right through. At that point I realized I was not comfortable doing the rest and took it to the guy I have work on my guitars to be professionally repaired. The hole was filled with maple dowel, the fret replaced and the area of concern was refinished. It was done right and is really not noticeable unless you are looking closely. Nobody would ever know. The tuners are “Ping” and were installed by me, they cost about $50 and they are included.
