| FS: Pre-CBS 1957 Precision Bass Gold Anodised Pickguard
I'm selling an original 1957 gold anodised aluminium pickguard for a Fender P bass. I bought it from Terry Mueller who is a very reputable vintage parts guy in Illinois and supplies some very renowned clients like Gruhn's Guitars in Nashville.
The only issue with it is that someone drilled an extra hole for a third knob or switch. I understand this can be repaired if you want to send it to an anodising factory, or it could be easily covered with a small sticker, or even kept as-is if you want to customize with a toggle switch for anything.
I recently bought a late 50s P bass on-line and was told by the store I bought it from that the gold pickguard it came with was a repro. I went ahead and bought the other one to replace it before realising that the guard on the bass actually is original. I only need one gold guard so I'm going with the one that's already on the bass.
I know original Fender gold guards don't come around too often and I would like to get $500 USD for this one. I'm in Canada and will accept payment by PayPal.
