FS: raffle tickets for studio time at Lurssen Mastering in LA
First off, 2 weeks ago I had sent an inquiry about the appropriateness of this thread to Ryan (mod), and he told me he wanted to ask the Admins, who would then get back to me. That never happened, so I am just going to post this since time is running out (explained below). Admins, I am more than happy to have this thread taken down if you feel it needs to go.
My 3 year old son Aiden has Mitochondrial disease, and his subtype is the only one on record. The chances of him having such a rare version are infinitesimal. We don't know what his future holds. We are hoping for relatively little impact, but based on what he has gone through in the first 3 years, that scenario is not likely.
We are awaiting Medicaid approval. Meanwhile, the medical bills are mounting as are other associated expenses.
A dear friend of ours is organizing a raffle to help us pay for the expenses associated with Aiden's illness. She asked that we post to Facebook and solicit donations for the raffle.
I have a high school friend named Gavin Lurssen, who has gone on to have a fabulous career in LA as a recording engineer. He heads Lurssen Mastering studio and has generously offered up for raffle enough studio time to master 3 songs. The raffle winner would send him the songs digitally, which he would then master and send back. Gavin is a real stand up guy. He has won 4 Grammy awards and if you take a look at his website, his client list and project list is a "who's who" of famous recording artists of all genres.
The raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5, and people can buy as many as they want, and can designate that the purchased tickets all go to this one prize if the purchaser so chooses. The more tickets you buy, the better chance you have of winning.
The point of contact for raffle tickets is Dana Miller. You can email her at
to arrange purchase of tickets.
For anyone questioning the validity of my thread, feel free to contact Gavin directly. His website:
The raffle will take place on Saturday, September 14. Winner need not to be present to win. So one week until the event. I hope that someone here on TB wins this prize since a lot of you out there are in bands that have or are recording songs. TB has been very good to me, and now I have a way to give something back (the cheapest studio time you will ever get!) while at the same time helping out my own family.
Good luck! I will bump this post daily in order to get max exposure. Thanks in advance to all who participate!
last day to buy tickets
Won by my friend Bill Shupp, an excellent percussionist and North Texas grad, living in LA. Got them for $200 total ticket purchase price. Wow! Closing the thread.
