Yeah i have, and to be honest, i can't tell a difference. I think they are using the exact same 60's-era vintage spec stuff for the precision and jazz pickups, and it sure sounds it too! Especially noticeable DI, since my amp/cab combo is fairly colored. Compared to stock Fender pickups, the tone of the Novak (and Lollar) are much sweeter, less harsh overall, and slightly better balance across the strings.
The only thing 'better' about Novak vs. Lollar are 1) Novak's are hand-wound by Curtis himself (sweet!) whereas Lollars are simulated hand-wound (read: "scatterwound"), and 2) Novaks are a bit cheaper than Lollars (probably because the scale of the operation).
Again, their tones (comparing both jazz and precision vintage sets) are very close to eachother. Both work very well in Fender CS, AV, and American standard. Probably the biggest change would be compared to MIM/MIJ and Squire lines, where the pickups are really lacking!
