FS: Schaller PBX split-coil P-bass pickup (like Dimarzio Model P)

Sign in to disble this ad
The Schaller PBX pickup is identical to the Dimarzio Model P (same hex adjustable pole pieces). Although it says "made by Schaller," my understanding is these were manufactured by Dimarzio for Schaller in the 80s before Dimarzio started selling them under their own name. Or maybe Dimarzio licensed the design. If somebody knows the story, please set me straight.

As seen in the pic below, this one dates to 10/87. The covers are not original but are in great shape. Mounting hardware is not included.

Meant to use this for a project that has since died on the vine so it's just been sitting around. These are great pickups. Lots of low-end -- a truly classic P tone with huge output. Think G&L MFD with a bit less bite (in fact, G&L used these on the earliest of the 2nd gen SB-1 models, one of which own, which is why I bought this one).

SOLD!

Pics added bump.

Sorry about the quality. Fortunately, I'm a better bass player than I am a photographer.

Price drop bump. At this point I'm taking a loss on this thing (actually my original asking price was less than I paid), but I'd rather see some TBer put it to good use than have it gathering dust in my spare parts drawer.

Nobody wants a P pup with adjustable pole pieces? I'm telling ya, these things deliver the big bottom.

Great score, excellent price. I just installed one I've had for several years. Very hot output. Sounds great wired in series, but I plan to add a switch for parallel option in the near future.
