FS: XO Bass Micro Synth!

For sale: Electro-Harmonix XO Bass Micro Synth in excellent shape. The sliders are like-new, the pedal operates without issue, and as you can see from the pictures it is virtually spot-free.

The BMS is a great pedal with amazing versatility. It can be used for a number of things, other than sounding like a synthesizer-- suboctave and up octaves, fuzz, 'slow gear' attack delay, 'lowpassd' dub bass sound, 'envelope' sounding filter, etc. Then of course when you combine some or all of its effects, you get very convincing analog synth bass sounds, and it is one of the best tracking synth pedals on the market. Another interesting use Ive found for it, is to use it as a static filter cutting all the highs out from my signal, and drastically cutting volume going into the Devi Ever Bass Fuzz- the Bass Fuzz takes this nearly inaudible signal and still boosts it back up to unity volume, but with a much smoother tracking and awesome synthy tone. I've also found that by keeping the volume up, but still cutting out all the high end (using the BMS only as a filter/eq) going into my Moog Freqbox improves the Freqbox's tracking significantly- The BMS is a jack-of-all-trades!

My first pedal was the older big box BMS, and I upgraded to the new smaller version earlier this year. Im trying to streamline my rig, and will be selling a number of pedals over the next couple weeks that I(m attached to) consider incredibly fun to use, but create overlap in my setup- The BMS is first to go (gotta start somewhere.. )

Trades, +/- cash:
4ms Nocto Loco
Foxrox Paradox TZF Flanger

Hey man. Are you at all interested in a Digitech Talker? It's a vocoder that can simulate a talk box style of sound using a microphone input. It is pretty wicked. Hit me with a PM if you are interested.

Stupid question that's been asked since it was released (but a free bump anyways
But... how did this compare to your original trapeziodal BMS?

Thanks for the offer theory028 but i'll pass, I have a pretty clear vision of where this money will go

chesire: the tonehammer doesn't fit my MO, but thanks!

Kevin: It's a toss up and it depends on your priorities. I A/B'd the two together before selling the big box and obviously I kept the XO- I felt that the convenience outweighed any sonic differences there may be. The big box sliders felt more substantial and it seemed to sound a little fatter, but the XO's filter is more resonant and has more range in the upper frequencies, therefor making it better suited for juicy faux envelope filtering. There's definitely some subtle differences between the two, and In my opinion the old Macro sounds the best, but the difference wasn't enough to outweigh the convenience of a smaller enclosure that runs off my pedalpower.

Here's a clip I made a while back, messing around with the Bass Micro Synth. Im using a tremolo with rythmic patters in between a squarewave octaver and the BMS-- the BMS is set so that the first of every 4 hits in the tremolos pattern triggers the filter, and then the last 3 'step' down the BMS's sweeping filter. Once it gets going I move the 'start' and 'stop' sliders around on the BMS-- good times

That sample is sick. I really like how it sounds at 1:05. I'm becoming more and more impressed with this pedal's capabilities. I'll definitely be adding one to my chain. Maybe I'll take this one off of your hands if it lasts long enough.

Thanks! I just listened to it again, and I must give a disclaimer that at 1:05 I stepped on a Syle Green Filter which is a spitty/gurgly envelope filter-- sounds like a Prunes&Custard, only more filtery than fuzzy. Further into the clip I switched on/off a couple other filters as well, but up until then the only filter was the BMS.
