FT - Allparts Lined Fretless Jazz Neck + more

Sign in to disble this ad
The story: I picked this up on a whim - a MIM fender Jazz with an Allparts lined fretless neck, hoping to branch out from fretted. The previous owner had played it with rounds, so there was some minor fretwear. After some TLC, I decided to coat the fingerboard with polyurethane. I then added a 70's Fender Jazz logo to the headstock, sealed and sanded. It's in beautiful shape, and sounds great - functional truss rod, clean, working tuners, nut is in great shape, intonates well.

...but unfortunately, the fretless experiment went horribly awry. in short: I suck. So I'd like to go back to fretted.

Since I dig the body (black with tort p/g) I'm looking to trade for a fretted Jazz neck - with or without tuners. Rosewood fretboard preferably - and I would be willing to work out a deal if someone offered a bound & blocked rosewood neck (sorry, I'll stop dreaming now...).

The neck is in fantastic shape - smooth, level board, with only some minor surface scratches on the back of the neck (my camera couldn't even pick them up). Truss rod functions great. I'll even throw in the radiused sanding block. The only issue is on one of the tuning holes: looks like someone got sloppy with the drill (see the first pic). It's only visible close up, at an angle, when the bushing is lifted, and it's not a structural issue.

PM me and let me know what you've got, and let's make a deal!

I *believe* it's ebony. It was darker than dark before I poly'ed it. I thought I had some 'before and after' pictures, showing the fingerboard prior to sanding and coating, but I'll be danged if I can find them....

I've never worked with ebony before, but when I sanded down the neck to clean up the board, prior to coating it, the dust was the finest and blackest I've ever seen.

Right on. She's a beaut. Like I said, enjoy the frets.
