im looking to trade these for a set of roundwounds. they have the red silk at the top of the string but not at the ball end. these wouldnt work through body i think i read somewhere saying labella doesn't recommend them for through body stringing. i found after trying a set of lakland flats on my jazz i guess i dont like flats on jazz bass's i like rounds so id like to trade these flats for a set of rounds.

what kinda rounds: open to all offers maybe something d'addario or rotosound or ghs or fender etc who knows whatever really.

Just FYI...

I had a set of these on my old MIA Jazz and they worked fine.

The only difference I could imagine is a tapered ball end on all strings. I am not familiar with a set of all tapered flats, but they might be out there.

I would say to give the La Bellas a try anyway, I thought they felt and sounded great on my string-through bass.

Good Luck!

I have the same bass. Why do you want them strung through the body? I don't think the difference is enough to bother with.

You want sustain play guitar!!! we bass players just go thud...I run ALL of my flats through the top load...I really do not think it makes a lick of difference.

I have heard that stringing flats through the body is not a good idea, soething to with the bending of the string at the saddle and breakage (if I remember correctly).

after trying a set of lakland flats through the body i think i just dont like flatwounds on this jazz bass. so i edited my thread looking for rounds now but wouldn't be opposed to a flatwound offer.

Are your LaBellas new in the box? If so I have DR Sunbeams or EB Hybrid Slinky's(2) both sets 45-105 I'll trade. For the record I use LaBellas on two P basses, one string through the other top load, no problem whatsoever with the string through. And IMO no difference in sound, feel or sustain either.

i was worried to use them that was since they dont bend to easily and labella says they don't recommend them for string through, they aren't new in box about 4 months of use.

I think the only LaBella's not intended for string through are the Jamerson's. The extra heavy gauge
