FT: Thomastik Infeld JF365 5-string flatwound set

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a set of Thomastik Infeld JF365 5-string flatwounds on my Ibanez BTB. I've had them on this bass for about six months so, considering people often leave their TI's on for as many as ten years, these have a lot of of life left in them! I'm finding that these strings on this bass make it too punchy. I'd like to trade them for a 34" scale set of Sadowsky or Labella flatwounds, which can be lightly used as well. These are regular 34" scale - not an XL set.

The bass is 35" scale and has a 2 + 3 headstock. This set might not work for a in-line tuner headstock because the D and G strings would be too short.

Anybody interested?

I got some LaBellas but are you wanting a 4 or 5 string set? Mine are LaBellas med-light, 4s cut for Fender.

Also got a used set of Lakland Joe Osborn flats 5ers cut for a SR5 but I need to think about it first before letting them go.

Thanks and good luck.

I'm looking for a 5-string set. How do the Osborne sound?

The Lakland Osborn flats are a low tension string just like the TIs. They have a somewhat dull sound (dull is not bad) not bright at all but also not "dud and thud". On my SR5, the Osborn's had a nice bark sound with a quicker sustain decay than round wounds.

It's very difficult to describe sound, isn't it?

In order to better describe the sound, I'd have to have tried 'em on a Fender P or J. That would have given me a better sound guide.

Once again, I'll need to decide if I wanna trade or not.

How much do you want for your TI 5 set, sold outright?

Thanks and good luck. cw
