G&L USA SB-2 fretted neck trade for fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
2008 model. 6 bolt. Great shape, but not perfect. Looking for a fretless G&L 6 bolt neck to trade. Pictures later on.

Can't remember the neck #, but its the 1.5 inch jazz neck. I'm not picky on what size neck I get in trade.

FWIW I traded a Hamer fretless neck here on TB for a fretted one. What I did was do searches for threads on the kind of bass I had, and look at the profiles of the TBers who posted until I found somebody with a fretless Hamer on their GAS list, who already had a fretted one.

The trade worked out great. We agreed to call the trade tentative, until we both agreed the new necks were working well for us.

Really like that Belair Green BTW!!

More work equals spending less cash

As long as the pocket is the same it would mean filling and drilling(?)
But since you got excited you now know if a 6 bolt fretless goes for $600 you would be ready to buy, swap and resell.

Yamark - if this had been about 18 months ago, we would have been a match made in heaven.

At the time, I was looking for a fretted neck to put on my L2k fretless. As Fourfinger suggests, I did a TB thread search for "G&L neck" and found a guy in Canada who had one spare - he had upgraded to a carbon fibre neck or something equally exotic. Ended up buying it. I still have the fretless neck - but I put it on a EUB-build project, and I'm quite fond of it now.

But one thing - as you know G&L necks are really rare. Don't pass up the 3-bolt versions. The one I bought was a 3-bolt, and my L2k body is a 6-bolt. The neck pocket is exactly the same. All it took was filling the old holes and drilling pilot-holes for the new - no problem at all.
