these strings are somewhere between round-wound & half-round - but unlike half-rounds they sound closer to a round-wound than they do to a flatwound .
GHS markets them as the "4th kind of bass string" .
they really for all intents are a round-wound with a smoother finish that doesn't eat up your fretless fingerboard .
and also , unlike half -rounds they don't have that sticky or tacky feel to them.
