Boss BR-600 (Price drop - $210 shipped with AC adapter added free)
Originally $350, this is a lightweight and very portable digital eight track recorder as it is the size of a magazine and can operate on 6 AA batteries (included). This is the big brother of the Boss BR-Micro and has all of its features and more. It has amp modeling & effects processors, preprogrammed drums and a drum pad for making your own rhythms. It also has 8 virtual tracks for each track. Though you can ultimately only use one, it allows you to record different versions and pick the best one. I found it most useful for guitar solos.
The BR-600 has a built in mic (I used it to record acoustic guitar and band rehearsals) as well as a guitar/bass input and a microphone input. It did not come with an AC adapter but I am throwing in the Boss PSA-120 adapter I bought ($19.95) for free. I have all the original packaging and the manual as well as the memory card and the little gig bag.
