J Retro preamp

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is a John East J Retro preamp dated 2004. I just had this taken out of a '04 Joe Osborne while it was getting plek'd at Lakland. I prefer a passive set up.

Everything works properly, no scratchy pots. Vol/pan-bass/treble-Mid/sweep-active/passive and series switches. The plate shows a little wear. Mounting screws not included, but this will drop right into your Jazz. Maximum onboard control.

The battery connector wires came off in transit, so these will need to be re soldered. I also noticed a crack in the (epoxy?) covering on one side of the main board, see photo. This does not affect performace as far as I can tell. The 4 leads are all a uniform length of 2".

I am not techy in the least, please check the photos and shoot me any questions and I'll try to provide answers. If you are not familiar with these check John's site:http://www.j-retro.com/

Sold!

I think anyone interested might need a better example of where, exactly, the crack is. That's a pretty scary thing on any circuit board.

Personally, I'd send it back, with photos, an explanation and a request it be replaced with a new, properly packaged unit.

The circuit board itself looks fine, the bottom side of it has a thick coating of what resembles black epoxy. That has the crack in it. I will take better photos of this and post tomorrow.

OK, added new photos so you can see the location and extent of this. The circuit board itself is not cracked- repeat- not cracked. It came out of the bass in this condition. It functioned perfectly for me before removal. I will refund your money if it is not working properly when you install it. Please make me an offer.
