It is the chrome plate with tone and volume knobs. Specifically, this one is from a J style SX bass

Ok, that makes sense...I was thinking some kind of special plate that "adds tone" free bumps for ya.

A. It's called a control plate

B. Why so much control plates sell for 10 buck's new? is it wired?
