Up for sale is a Lake Placid Blue jazz body from the first Model J that Jack built back in 2002. The neck pocket signature indicates it is the first he built. It has its share of dings but nothing too major. Included are: strap buttons, Gotoh 201, 3-ply W-B-W pick guard, control plate wired V-B-T-T and neck plate and screws. The jack is on the side of the body.

Looking to get $265 shipped to the continental US.

Or buy with the neck in the below thread for $565 shipped!

Jack Read Jazz Neck

Jack is no longer building folks. I will throw in a set of lightly used LaBella flatwounds and a hardshell case if you are buying the body with the neck.

I'm a luthier and I would say Swamp Ash 99% sure looking at the neck pocket. It really doesn't have the grain for Alder at all.

Glad I could help. I have two builds out of Swamp Ash going right now.

Just a tip. The lighter the body the better, It will have far more resonance. Lighter wood is younger and comes from lower in the tree.

Depending where it's cut from on the tree there can be more than 2lbs difference in a 2 piece glued up block of Swamp Ash with the same dimensions, crazy eh!

Not sure.

Not sure of the exact weight but the assembled bass weighed in at around 8.5 lbs. I'd love to keep the neck and body together if possible.
