Lane Poor Bartolini Pickups New/Used

Sign in to disble this ad
Lots of stuff for sale.

Prices are shipped to the US 48 states ONLY. I would accept trading for a set of LP "HB5.000 and/or SB5.000" or Bartolini P5 "classic bass" with at least 105mm wide spacing.

Lane Poor M4 set--$400

Lane Poor TDK set--$400

Bartolini BC 4 string set--$75--SOLD

Bartolini BD 5 string set--$100---SOLD

Bartolini PT 6 string set --$125

I'll start off with the Lane Poor pickups

One set of EMG M4 shaped pickups. One is a "W' wide coil other is "N" narrow coil. They are both 4.0/1.5 inches and have a little over 6 inches of lead wires left. "W" reads 7.76 ohms and "N" reads 7.81 ohms. These are used and in great condition with some string rubbing and whatnot.

One set of Lane Poor pickups. I do not know much about these bottom read "T DK and #DA". I have no idea what this means. They both have well over 6 inches of wire and are in used condition. The pickups read 8.80 ohms and 8.63 ohms. Sizes are 4 5/8 by 1 1/4 inches.

Finally one set of Bartolini pickups. 80PT6T-B 4.62ohms, 80PT6T-T 5.78ohms. These look like new, I can't find any solder on the leads and the pickups look new. Over 6 inches of wire and are 4 5/8 by 1 1/4 best I can tell.

Lowered the prices for the Barts, these are unusual sizes so I knocked off a few bucks. Great pickups here guys.

Those LP TDKs are rare! Are they dual coil humbuckers? And they use bar magnets instead of poles, correct?

Thanks

As far as I know none of LP pickups used pole pieces.

I don't have anyway of testing to see if they are humbuckers.

The "JB" series of soapbars had at least 9 polepieces. There's a thread on the Music Electronics Forum where someone disassembled one of each armature, and the polepieces were there.

These pickups are dual-coil humbuckers. The holes in the middle are a dead give-away, since they would be going between the coils, rather than in the middle of either of the "sidewinder" armatures ("JB" or "SB") which would conflict with the polepieces or a bar magnet, respectively.

Cool. Thanks tubby.twins. I figured the hole locations meant it was a DC, but I wanted to be sure. I knew the LPs w/ mounting holes at the ends rather than along the front and back edges were DCs. But I've only seen a handful of these, and this is the first set I've seen for sale. Definitely cool stuff.

And FiveStringDan, you can always try the paperclip test to check coil arrangement. Lightly drag a paperclip (or anything magnetic) along the pickup and it will follow the magnets!

Thanks

Hmm..I tried that and the magnet seems to be in the middle of the pickup.

That's a stumper. Does it make any sense that there are still two coils, but they share one central magnet? Either way, they're LPs, so they GOTTA sound good!

It would, if they're really a sidewinder pickup (as the JBs and SBs) instead of a traditional humbucker, as I had earlier suspected. Those actually have a separate magnet inside each coil, whose axis runs parallel to the strings. The SBs have a third magnet between the two coils (pointing "up" to the strings). But I can't figure out how that would work with a mounting hole right in the middle.

Fivestringdan, do you have any magnetic paper?

Here's a link: K&J Magnetics - Products

I've seen the same film on eBay occasionally.

No interest in the Lane Poors so they are going on ebay.
