Is the Schaller a direct replacement for Fender's ?

No, not 'direct' exactly, the middle hole will line up, but you'll need to drill other holes. Those holes, though, would be covered by the original bridge if you ever wanted to switch back. But, yes, I have always used them on Fender basses and they work great!!!
