Older Necks. Jazz and Scroll styles.

BOTH SOLD!!!

I have two necks for sale. The first is a Fender Jazz neck. I was told by the seller that this was a neck from the late 60's, but there are no markings or date stamps---so, I will just sell this a a 'cool older Jazz neck.' I cannot make any claims as to the year. It plays great. It might need a new nut---the E string slips out when played hard. It has newer Hipshot tuners. I would like $220 shipped for it. SOLD!!!!

The other neck is a scroll style Ampeg copy. It isn't as clean as the Fender, but it is pretty cool. There are some dings, and chips in the paint--and the tuners are a little sticky. The fingerboard was modified with notches cut into it and whiteout, or something painted on. You can play as is, but this would be a cool project neck. It will fit in a Fender neck pocket, BUT the neck is thicker, so you would need to carve out the pocket so it sits right. This one is $125 shipped.

The frets are worn down a good bit---but I never felt an urgency to replace them. The binding is great.

There are a few dings on the back of the neck. The truss rod works great.

A little background on the J neck....I bought it on eBay a few years back. The seller said it came off of a 68 or 69 J bass. I cannot sell it as such, since I have no proof. I can only sell it as a nice playing and nice feeling J neck with a nice vibe to it.

I beleive that the scroll neck is 34", but I will triple check tonight after work. There are alot of scuff marks on the scroll, and a few dings on the back of the neck. Also, you can see in the pic, that there is alot of chipping in the neck pocket area. It will fit snug inside a Fender body, but it is thicker, so the pocket will need to be lowered. If you wanted to modify the neck, by shaving it to fit, you will need to drill into the body to accomodate a round metal dowell (see pic) that is in the end of the neck. There are added screw holes, and they fit my Fender plate nicely.

The tuners are a bit tight, but they still function well. The board has the added markers. I don't know how accurate they are. I never used them. They are notched out on the sides.

What is the story on the scroll neck? Where did it come from?

I bought it one TB a little while back. I really don't know which bass it came off of. It seems to be very stable and well made though. Sorry I can't give more info, but I've never seen another scroll copy neck, so I don't even know where to start.

I should also mention that it does have some neck dive on Fender bodies.
