Someone pick this up.

Pots should be easy to find. One pot definitely NEEDS replacing (it's busted), and for the few bucks it costs I would recommend replacing the others.

Necks come up here and Ebay fairly often. Make sure they are the Peavey neck with the squared heel.

Other than that, it's a pretty easy project, and will make a GREAT sounding bass.

How old would you guess the body is? I know at the end of production for the T-40, they were using similar, if not, the same necks? Do you know how man frets are on the neck for these basses?

The serial number on the neck (the neck that came on it is "bad", so I didn't want to sell it to someone) is 05210xxx, which dates it as a 1992 -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peavey_...Serial_Numbers

The original neck is a 21 fret model.

I "think" a T40 neck will fit, but I'm not 100% sure. I can measure the cavity if you'd like. As with anything, I would expect to do a little "wrassling" to get it to go...though it might just drop right in perfectly.

PS - If someone wants to buy this and wants the original neck with it, I'll include it if they pay for shipping...probably about $15 or so. The truss nut is completely stripped and there are some small cracks around the truss cavity in the rosewood. You might be able to get the truss nut off...I wasn't able to. It's a great feeling neck, but I don't want to "sell" it to someone just to get rid of it ...I'd rather give it away or hang it on the wall.

Maybe you should wait until after Christmas. I think most of us who are into Peaveys are prone to be penny pinchers, and we're not sure we can justify another project while there are still presents to buy. Unless you are looking for money for presents I would wait until mid January.

\

I need the Christmas money - if it doesn't sell before Christmas then I'll keep it.
