I owned one of these, so allow me...

Basically, the pedal is like taking a wah, and putting it at a particular setting. (IE, halfway through the sweep or whatever) which can give you some pretty cool tones. My guitarist ended up using it as part of his lead tone.

That's the quick and dirty explanation from me, but I'm sure there are others that can give a more in-depth description for you.

It's pretty much what Josh (thank you Josh) said. It's a set it 'n' forget it thang.
Now...you *could* get 2 x 40' "patch" cables and let someone in the audience control your sweep creating a remote Wah type deal.
