Let's try this again...
the first time around the sale went no where, even when I was disparate and the price was at an incredible low. Well, my funds are made up and these are up for sale again.
I bought these from TB member SuperTanker for $90. I used these in a Squier Affinity Jazz bass and NEVER heard anything sweeter. They are left over as I sold my Jazz bass with Duncans in it.
I'd like to get what I paid for them as they are in the exact condition as I got them. $90 shipped CONUS
These are distinct pickups from the MM5 bass with the dull black cover and raised pole pieces. These DO NOT resemble the 4-string pickups at all. I had someone telling me that these aren't MM5 pickups because they don't look like the 4-string pickups. Do your research before telling me they are fake. I also had another local guy tell me that these do not have enough magnetic attraction, they are fake. He knows because he has been playing since he was 12 (yeah, and so have I). I then REFUSED to sell them to him and sent him on his way.
Getting back to the pickups, they have a great vintage tone. The bridge pickup has a fantastic mid range tone that really cuts through (better than the Duncans I had), very full bodied for a bridge position. The Neck pickup is just totally funk-a-licious. This is one of the best set of "vintage sounding" jazz pickups I've heard.
Now remember, these are for a
5 string with standard MIA Fender sizes. If I remember correctly, the bridge pickup is 4.19" across and the neck pickup is 3.90" across. Pole pieces will fit a 19mm string spacing on the money.
I have sound clips to email anyone who wants. They are .wav files (I'm still in the stone ages of recording music)
here are the pics:
They come with screws and springs:
Here is a pic of the MM5 bass from Fender's site. It shows the bridge pickup in all it's glory. The raised pole pieces are a dead giveaway. No other pickup that I have seen on the market has pole pieces like this (meaning that the pole piece height varies, following the string height)
From the M2 website:
"
Marcus likes a lot of punch on the bass strings and sparkle on the treble strings, in other words a wide range of sounds. After intense testing of different concepts we came back to the single coil Jazz bass format (how new is that) with formvar wire, which delivers the punch and the smooth treble attack we are looking for. The magnets had to be special staggered for the 7 1/4 inch radius."
