Polychorus & Deluxe Electric Mistress FS

Sign in to disble this ad

Both in excellent condition and both are functionally perfect. The DEM was modded by Howard Davis. I asked Howard if the Polychorus warranted any mods and he said that the newer version (this one) is superior to the vintage design and doesn't need any changes.

Straight up truth - the DEM sounds gorgeous, and the Poly is my all time favorite chorus. But once again, I am defeated by their large form factor and power requirements (adapters). If you can manage the size, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Power supply included as is the original box.

DELUXE ELECTRIC MISTRESS MODS:

TOTAL BYPASS MOD

INPUT IMPEDANCE INCREASE MOD
This greatly reduces "tone sucking" due to pickup loading in both the bypass and effect-on modes.

BYPASS/EFFECT-ON VOLUME EQUALIZATION MOD
This fixes the volume drop that occurs in some units when switching from bypass to the effect-on mode with the footswitch.

DELUXE TO VINTAGE MISTRESS MOD
This mod boosts the high frequency response of the Deluxe Electric Mistress to make it sound more like the vintage standard (non-deluxe) Electric Mistress.

EFFECT-ON INDICATOR (LED) MOD

FOR SALE ONLY.
Polychorus $150 shipped CONUS
DEM $160 shipped CONUS

Paypal preferred.

Question Polychorus

Coupla qustions-
1. This may be an odd one, but I vaguely recall demo'ing an EHX poly-something in a store years ago, & it went into a wild self-oscillation- it could have been this, set on 'double tracks'- comments/thoughts?
2. Like most folks these days, I am for all intents broke; would you be interested in a partial trade involving any of the following: Digitech PDS-1002 2-second delay, an ancient Pearl Analog Chorus, Danelectro Dan-Echo delay, Marshall Supervibe, a couple of 3" wide black cotton straps, an unopened set of Warwick blue-label SS medium strings or 5 Hipshot ultralite satin silver tuners.
I could add cash, depending on what(if anything)you are interested in.
Thanks-
Steve

Crepe- meant to PM this. Ah well, I have no secrets. Let me know, eh?

The double track mode is the easiest to send into self-oscillation, but it's not an out of control pedal. I could easily see it going crazy on you in a store while trying it out-- it doesn't have much delay so many have a tendancy to turn the resonance up pretty high with the delay time maxed to see how much delay is available (not much), then turn the delay time down (res still up) and boom- wild screeching self oscillation

You can get the chorus and flange to self-oscillate as well (lots of fun making noise) but it's not as sensitive in those modes. I have a Polychorus and I love it's flange- I don't use much chorus but the chorus sounds great and is capable of huge range of sounds. There is a lot of range in the knobs, so for more subtle chorus tones you really have to keep the speed and width at lower levels, but it's not hard to dial in whatever sound you want. Great pedal.

The feedback is very controllable via the knob. The sound of the pedal on the verge of feeding back is really creepy- as you turn the feedback knob CW, it sounds as if you are about to be overrun by a swarm of robotic insects. Definite goosebump material. I have to play my looping gigs without shoes so I can turn the knob with my toe, but it's worth it

No trade interests right now. thanks
