I have a brand new in a box Duncan SPB-1 Precision Bass Pickup. IMO this pickup nails the vintage P-Bass tone better than anything else on the market. It is a true to vintage reproduction with waxed cloth wire leads. I bought this to install in a bass but I ended up selling before getting around to it. Its brand new in the original packaging with screws/diagram etc. Never installed. Price is $59 plus shipping to the US or Canada. Paypal prefered, PM me if interested!

I recently purchased an '03 MIA P with quarter pounders (spb3) do you know how these compare?

When I got the bass it had ernie ball rounds on it and really sounded quite good. however I'm trying to use it with GHS precision flats and it not quite cuttin it for me. Maybe the spb3's are a little too hot for the thumpy thang??

The 1/4 Pounders have a lot of low end and are pretty aggressive sounding to me. I find the SPB-1 to have a more natural low end and a more organic sound(vintage or traditional sounding I guess you could describe). In a band situation I prefer the SPB-1 as I find it to sit in the mix better.
