Squier pickup and preamp w/knobs

Sign in to disble this ad
Removed from a spankin' new Squier VM Jag Special HB. Controls are Vol/Treb/Mid/Bass. The leads for the preamp are full-length. I simply un-soldered them from the output jack. All connections are labeled except the ground which is on the corner of the PCB next to the pickup hot connection. $20 shipped in the CONUS.

The pickup has foam and springs on the bottom. Mounting screws are included. Dimensions: 1 7/16" long, 3 7/16" wide, 7/8" deep. $20 shipped in the CONUS.

What does it sound like? Any idea what the resistance is? How many leads?

Pickup resistance

Well, since it was mounted in the "Music Man"/Stingray position, it sounded like one of them. For a single-pickup bass, I would mount it closer to the neck myself. It has two leads and measures 10.68k ohms.

These would be perfect for a project/backup instrument. I have no idea where the center frequencies are, but the preamp functions well, and is not noisy...

I had an inquiry about shipping to the U.K. Pretty reasonable via USPS - $13.95 with a 4 lb. limit in one of their Priority boxes...

Played one of these basses the other day, sounds great! The preamp seemed very similar to the one in the MIM Jazz Deluxe. Trying to keep my project passive though.

Preamp is sold and headed to the UK in tomorrow's post (thanks Paul!). This nice new pickup at a bargain price is still available. I never removed the plastic so there is not a scratch on it. I put the electronics from this bass "on the block" because this bass was purchased as a vehicle for a pair of '63 spec'd Thunderbucker pickups. Thanks for the plug mordechai! I agree that these Jags are very nice for the price. I don't like dealing with dead spots and this one does not have any noticeable ones. The only nit I will pick is with the nut. The strings bind in the slots and the action at the nut is a bit too high. Easily cured though...
