I have a 'Stinger by Martin' Precision-type neck (made overseas somewhere, I think maybe in Korea by Cort?). Maple with maple fretboard, heel fits a standard Fender type pocket. Top nut is just a hair smaller than the neck width but works OK. Missing truss cover. Includes tuners, headstock angles back so there's no string retainer.
This would be your average el-cheapo neck, except I pulled all the fretwires starting at the 8th fret and continuing to the 20th. There's a few light coats of marine expoxy over that portion of the fretboard. Not exactly a pro effort, but gets the job done and allowed me to see just what this kind of setup feels like. I am now having a neck finished by a 'real' luthier based on this concept. If you were considering a similar experiment you can save yourself the labor. Or if reading this has made you curious you can satisfy that curiosity...either way I'm thinking NEW PRICE - $30 shipped to the lower 48 should do it.
Charging the batteries in my camera now, so I should have pics by later today.
Thanks.
