Suhr Vintage Single Coil Jazz Pickup Set

Sign in to disble this ad
The real deal, NOT the Fender/Suhr pickups. These are John Suhr Vintage Single Coil Jazz bass pickups that I got and installed in a bass that I later traded. I kept these because I wanted to put them in another bass but they are still sitting on the shelf so somebody else should use them. They sound awesome, very growly. I'll post pics later. $110 shipped. No trades on these.

yes, if your bass has the standard size jazz pickups with the neck pickup shorter and the bridge pickup longer. These are replacement pickups for most jazz style basses. As far as sound, that is pretty subjective but these are great sounding pickups. My fav jazz pickups actually and I have another set in my Suhr Jazz bass.

Ignore the packaging in the pic as I bought these from Indoor Storm and the single coils were returned to the store for the Humphries pickups. The store put the single coils pups in the Humphries box and sold them to me.

I've never read any reviews on the vintage Suhrs pups, though I have a friend that owned a Suhr J style 5. Very sweet sounding bass btw. How does this sound in the "vintage" department? Leaning to modernish/hi-fi or old school thump thickness? How do the mids sound? Thanks and good luck!

These sound really good and I have an identical set in my Suhr Jazz bass. Only selling these because they came out of a bass I traded and I don't have another bass to put these in right now. Typical single coil mid slappy, fingerstyle burpy bridge pup. They killed in the Tokai Alder/RW jazz that I had for sure. Very nice.

Oh I've always wanted a Tokai. I had a friend that had one of their Strats and he ended up getting rid of the Fender.

This may or may not be helpful, but here's a guy doing an A/B with the single coils and the Humphrey (hum-free) versions. It appears that the pre is engaged in the hum canceling portion and the bass is in passive mode during the single coil part. Nice sounds with both pickups.
