SX Maple Neck w/White Blocks - Long Scale

Sign in to disble this ad
Are you still looking for an SX Neck with the old style headstock for your next SX Jazz or PBass build project?

Want to be different than everyone else in the SX Bass Club?

Perhaps you'd like to buy the new Inca Silver SX Ursa PBass like this http://www.rondomusic.com/ursa1mnmsl.html but dress it up with an old-Style headstock, white blocks and binding Jazz width neck? This should fit fine!

I have a stunning SX maple neck with white blocks and binding for sale. It is is from an SX SJB Jazz model. This one is 34 inch (regular) scale. Jazz neck width, 1.5" wide at the nut. I have another SX neck that doesn't have the blocks, and this neck is the same width, but shallower front to back, than that one. It's a nice profile!

It is new and unmounted, purchased from Rondo directly. As this was a replacement neck it does not have the SX decal, and has not had a string tree mounted.

It will need a nut, and the Graph Tech nut has been a drop in replacement for several SX owners here on Talkbass: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/b...sgraphtech.htm .

Also it appears that when the previous nut was being added when new from the factory, some wood above the nut slot came off. I have a photo which accurately represents the view of the slot from the headstock. It won't affect your ability to put in a nut. I would suggest hitting it lightly with sandpaper and simply touching it up with stain or poly. It's aproximately a quarter of an inch.

Additionally, there is a finish dent on the backside of the neck.

I slid my thumb along the back and it didn't bother me. Many SX owners sand down the shiny polyurethane finish on the back side with steel wool or sandpaper to get a more satin finish - if you did this down to the wood this dent would be gone - it is finish only.

It is available for $95 shipped. I can include a set of SX Tuners for an additional $10 if you need them. I'll listen to trade offers too.

If you're looking for a similar neck, 30 inch short-scale, see my listing:

nice neck! Dare I say in coming months/years the SX block necks in good shape with "old style" head will go for more than the entire bass they came on? I think it'll be close.

I bet Kurt kept a slew of old style necks and redesigned the new (ugly) headstock just to drive up the price of his stash of old ones.

OK, far fetched.

(sale pending unnecessary bump)

But what was the cheapest fretted SX bass with block necks? Maybe $139-$179 before the $15 shipping? No way the necks alone will go that high in the near future.

But if the basses were in that price range - those necks should be selling for about $115 shipped - and that's before they stopped selling them.

Well, people like them - we'll find out how much the like them. They are nice necks - and the ones with blocks aren't quite as think/deep front to back as the straight maple.
