SYMETRIX 501 VCA

Sign in to disble this ad
Symetrix Peak-RMS Compressor/Limiter model 501. This item is in perfect operational condition and great physical condition. There are some slight scratches and rack rash but nothing bad. The power cable is permanently attached to the rear of the unit. The serial number is 8702.

The Symetrix 501 is a single channel compressor/limiter offering variable or automatic attack & release functions with a variable compression ratio. The VCA is made by Valley People and there is a metal power switch. The unit is divided into two sections, the RMS Compressor Limiter on the left and the Peak Limiter on the right. The Output gain is to the right of that. Between the two compressor sections is a row of four buttons: RMS Compressor/Limiter In - activates the RMS Compressor/Limiter
Stereo Slave - slaves the compressor to the compression of another 501 through a Stereo Interconnect connection on the rear.
Side-Chain - activates the Side-Chain Insert on the rear of the unit
Peak Limiter In - activates the Peak Limiter

The RMS Compressor/Limiter features knobs for Threshold (-40dBm to +10dBm), Attack (12dB/mSEC to .25dB/mSEC), Release (300db/mSEC to 5dB/mSEC), and Ratio (1.4:1 to infinity:1). There is also a button that switches between manual and automatic attack and release. The Peak Limiter section just has a Threshold knob (-10dBm to +20dbm). The Output Gain is from -20dB to 20dB and to its right is a +18dBm Peak LED. At the far-right, the compression LED ladder shows gain reduction from 45dB to 2dB.
