Would'ja guys PLEASE delete closed threads?!

Sign in to disble this ad
It's such a drag to search for a specific item and have to read dozens of threads that finally say "closed" at the end. What's the point of leaving old threads up? It's as easy to delete it as it is to close it.

I, for one, leave mine up because that's the only way to link it into the feedback system. If the thread no longer exists, you can't add it to the feedback you leave the other party.

Cheers,
Nick

It is easy...all you have to do is look for the LOCK on the thread before you open it. It is to the left of the title of the thread on the main page.

I leave mine up for feedback purposes and for after sale confirmation info...etc....

Just checked one I closed -- not locked -- this a.m. THere's also a "CLOSED" bubble with lock to the upper left of the OP.

It's also good if you are researching prices, as ebay can be unreliable, and often over-inflated...

Price and product info research has always been the most common reason, but it's also good for those of us that buy from one TB'er and then re-sell, so people can see the TB history of the bass in question. AND, more critically, now the feedback system requires the presence of a sale thread in order to leave feedback. Sometimes (travel, communication issues, etc.) it is necessary to leave feedback long after the deal is done and the thread closed.

I'd like to see an icon like a large C on closed threads in the thread listing. There's currently not anything on the threads listing that shows that the thread is closed, so you have to click the link to open the thread to see that it is.

Is that possible?

I see now about the thread link in the feedback page. I understand now, but I still think it's a drag to get excited about finding the item you want only to see that it's not really there anymore.

Maybe there could be a 'Closed Threads' section where those posts would automatically move when the OP closes the thread? That way, shoppers could still find those threads for research/pricing purposes, but it'll be out of the way of active threads. Possible?

When the thread is closed it shows a lock on the outside...pretty easy to avoid those threads.

i say leave the threads up... but don't forget to close them! for good measure, i also type "SOLD" in big letters at the top of the thread so there's absolutely no confusion.

I hate it when people remove the price of their item, and replace it with SOLD, when I'm looking for prices!

Type SOLD next to the price! How am I supposed to know when someone is trying to make $3 off that pedal they got last week for a good deal HMM?? I need leverage!

AHMEN!

Since so many basses, equiptment, etc., change hands to other TB'ers .... it's nice to know what someone paid for it, before you can actually know its a good deal, or a deal you can live with.

*** Also, I'm with TimWilson... if something is sold or traded ..... Please close the thread! I'm a bit tired of contacting someone or reading through a thread .... just to find out it's no longer available. ***

I'm in TOTAL AGREEMENT with this request. It is frustrating that the price gets deleted. I wish that this could be passed on to the other forums as well.

Also, I assumed that this was the job of the Mods to police the threads to see if the item was sold but not closed.

When something really good pops up, an auction is about to end, etc... Nothing is more frustrating that frantically clicking through threads trying to find an average price, and all of them just say SOLD!(sorry buddy, you're on your own here!) At that point, you've already gone through 5 threads on the gear, listened to 3 soundclips, and lost almost 8 precious minutes! Time is of the essence, and I need to know what these damn things sell for. Don't make me guestimate the rate of depreciation on this 4 year old, retail of $289, low production pedal that didn't catch on, but sounds great!

Sometimes I don't leave the price in my listing because it's a "between you and me" sale.

You could still leave the original asking price up and just not reveal the actual selling price.
