Zollar P bass Solid Walnut Neck, SchallerTuners

Sign in to disble this ad
Beautiful solid walnut neck with walnut fingerboard by Zollar. Pbass "C" profile, 1 5/8" at nut. Fits 2 3/8" pocket. 21 frets. Very similar profile to my G&L SB1 1 5/8" neck. Will fit G&L neck pocket but needs to be set slightly back from end of neck pocket. Schaller Lightweight American Deluxe Tuners. The white stars are under the finish, you can see where one star was removed. Other than the stars there are no issues. Retailed $550. $235 shipped.

Now, thanks to Sanfordandsonny I'm holding off on the sale of this until I wire the bass and try both necks.

So I can "kinda" tell from the pics, is it 21 frets?

yes 21 frets, added to listing. This was going to go on the L1000 that the SB1 neck I got from you is now on. Almost the identical profile. If it doesn't move I'll probably sell the SB1 neck and put this one on, it's just so sweet.

From the picture it looks like the heel is rounded on the e string side and square on the g string side.
I'll buy the sb-1 neck back from you for sure.
I'm just soooo tempted to try walnut.
And solid walnut at that like when would I get another shot at walnut for a g&l!!
How does it sound compared to maple or rosewood?

A sad question indeed. As Sonny knows, I've had the parts for this one in drawers for a few years. G&L L1000 that someone cut the top horn back on, and finally have everything when along comes Sonny's neck that would make it all G&L but the walnut is so beautiful and I'm not OCD and maybe I should hold off, GOMLA and wire it up and try both necks. The SB1 neck is a very tight fit. But the walnut is just over the top.

Now I have to wire it up and make another executive decision.

I'm going to do this back to you sometime.

You asked for it Sonny, take this:

Neck held back until I wire up the L1KASAT and try them both. Some people will attempt any tact to convince someone to sell them back their gear. Thanks.

After depleting the project drawer and messing with things I realize that often I've spent 100times the amount of thought when compared to the actual to do time needed to answer a gear question.
Only when I really got to the heart of things did I realize that mahogany is deep but too slow and sloppy for me.
What's awesome is that it could suck or completely rock your world either way better than them both sounding "ehhhh"
I once bought an all rosewood Tele very heavy and it was the tinniest sounding pos I've ever owned but I'm
Glad I did it.
When you decide, call me !

It's on the L1K body now so it has 3 more holes. Going to take some G&L 3 bolt angle adjusting. The fretboard radius is flatter too. I'm only going to keep one neck or I'll never get to the Kawai/Darkstar project so I'll let you know.

Remember there is no metal disc on the walnut so you might want to do your shimming with strips of paper or plastic.
