King Bass Neck

If anyone has a King Moretone bass neck laying around out there let me know. I am going to put in an Englehardt neck if I cant come up with one in the next few days.

I don't think that will work, the scale on the Engel being an inch and change less than the King neck, different neck pitch, different everything.

That said, if you go through with it, please let me know how well the tenon on the Engel neck fits the mortise in the King's neck block. My King's neck block failed, again, and I'm thinking about scrapping it and fitting an Engel block if it can be made to fit.

i know a King is a Eb neck and Engle's/Kay's are D necks but it i make the neck fit in why would the neck/string length matter??? It's not like the bass was built ONLY for a Eb neck. Am I missing something?!?!?

I don't know if this is true, but have heard that older larger basses whose necks are cut down to a 41" or 42" string length end up somehow out of balance with themselves.

i dont think a king would be cosidered a "larger" bass. actually, they are a bit small for a 3/4. but no, i have never heard that about changing string length. anyone else heard that???

My Mortone is huge, with a 43" string length.

You could post a question in the setup section. Lots of knowledgable luthiers post there, and I'm sure they could clear it up for you.
