Looking to borrow / rent a bass in Italy (Tuscany, near Siena)

So I'm about to take a vacation for a couple weeks in Italy and have some technically challenging gigs when I get back. Any chance anyone can help me locate a bass to practice on while I'm there?

I'm looking for a bass and bow, don't care much about sound as long as it's playable up through thumb position. An EUB would be fine as well.

Ideally I'd bring my travel EUB, but can't because of other luggage logistics (my wife and 8 month old daughter are coming too).

I've got a couple feelers out to local luthiers, but any other leads would be much appreciated. I speak Italian reasonably well, if that helps.
