Looking for Double Bass under $3000...Found!

I'm going to take the plunge into the upright bass world, and am looking for anyone selling a bass under $3000 (my budget limit, kinda low I'm afraid). I haven't had much luck finding anything in the suburban Detroit area, so I'm posting this add.
I can be contacted at agfrag@gmail.com.

Have you called the Cincinnatti Bass Cellar or Nick Lloyd?

Do you know about Kevin Flannery in Grand Rapids? He makes and repairs basses, and it wouldn't hurt to ask what he's got at the moment. How to find him? I don't know; internet white pages, I guess.

Thanks for the replies! Just recently, someone pointed me to Gary Ritter (next city over... go figure) and I'm going to look at something he is working on at the moment. Fingers crossed!

Don't know what you're looking for, but Gary Ritter can get you into a new, well-setup Shen for considerably under $2,000. He's a by-appointment-only guy.

Well, After trying out about 10 basses, (two at Gary's place, what a great guy, and what an amazing shop!) I was going to wait 'till tax return season and up the limit, but unfortunately my wife's practical nature prevailed, and so I ended up getting 2 basses and was under my budget by $10!

One is a 3/4 hybrid Roma that I really dig the tone of, and the other is a BSX Allegro that was for sale here in the classified. I'm diggin' the Roma now, and the BSX will arrive next week, so I'm up to my ears in uprights at the moment (Roma, NXT, BSX, and a project on my bench). I figure I'll probably end up with one of these (yeah right) in the long run.

Thanks all!
