WTB Entry-Level Bass/Upton (>$2000, CNJ/NY)
 

Hi guys,

I am seeking to purchase a double bass to begin study in the central NJ region.

This will be my first upright. My budget is >$2000 (prefer to stay around $1500, 2000 is quite a stretch for me). Within this price range I hope to acquire an abundantly adequate instrument with pleasant sound - crossing my fingers for an Upton - something that will keep me contented throughout the next few years of school. I would prefer this be a used instrument.

Round-back construction only, please, as I will be playing primarily jazz/pizzicato.

Willing to travel up to ~150 miles. The sooner I find the right instrument, the sooner I can begin my bass journey.

Hi Matt,

You should be able to get your hands on a new Shen SB-80 at any number of shops in the $1500 range if a plywood bass will suit your purposes.
