Any bass players out there using the Barker Bass for Salsa?

I noticed on the Barker website, that they do offer a mute,
Curious if this bass can obtain a heavy thump and percussive sound?Much needed for Latin music.

i'm not a salsa player. i can tell you that the mute lee sells is awesome for getting serious thump. also, i got two-sided mutes of different widths so there are many different varieties of muted thumpiness to be discovered with those things.

i use the mute to get a de facto urb-like sound, thumpy and percussive with a fast decay. hth, later, ron

There was a guy in California, I think, but I don't recall his name...and in the many years we went to NAMM, there were always players there enthusiastic about the Barker's potential for salsa.

With the postage stamp stages we so often find, the Barker's smaller footprint (than an upright) is a plus, am I right?

I would guess the Brio would be the model of choice, and the prices listed for the Black Friday sale are as low as they've ever been.
