If you've traveled by Greyhound or Trailways Bus you've seen the driver, while passengers are milling about at a rest stop, circle the coach and thump the tires, checking to see they're all up to pressure. Ounce of prevention sort of thing.
Here are a couple of tire-thumpers for your Barker: Once a year, check the neck bolts. A 4mm or 5/32 Allen wrench is the tool. They need to be snug.
When you change your strings, always check your tuning machines. The 15mm nut on top, in combination with the very small set screw on the back, keeps them in place. A wrench that size is pretty herky for this kind of job--I prefer the small adjustable wrench shown. Again, snug is the key word here.
These are important.
Note that Some owners have suggested that changing the Byronic Fluid and the O-Ring Snubbers at the outfeed end of the Sustain-O-Matic pump (except those with the Pro-Guy Y-Valve) should be accomplished on a quarterly basis, but that's unnecessary. In fact, the system is sealed for life and has no owner-accessible parts. |
