Currency conversion from US Dollars

I've been having a conversation with a potential Barker Bass owner in the British Isles. I researched the conversion rate on the web: 1 U.S. dollars = 0.532623169 British pounds, 6/1/06. My financial advisor says this is a pretty attractive exchange. It would be interesting to hear from our readers throughout the world how exchange rates affect them and their decisions about purchasing US-made music gear. Any thoughts?

Kindly,

Lee

Thanks, Smash, that's a very focussed answer to my question. Your perspective as a buyer of gear over time gives it added gravity. Thanks for the insight and the thoughtful response. It helps me get a wider view. It may also help others in their consideration of offshore purchases wherever they are!
Kindly,
Lee
