This is the official greeting from the Big Kahuna of Barker Musical Instruments, so you'd just better not take it too seriously. That would take time, and he'd rather you were enjoying.

Whatever it is--Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas, The Solstice, Your Great Aunt's Birthday, or a strange combination of those, just remember, these are all preparation for.......

Something, maybe National Pickle Week. Or National Hug a Trombonist (carefully) Week.

Anyhow, Linda and I wish you the very best that life has to offer, and as we close this year we two are, as always, thankful for this instrument idea that landed close enough for us to call it our own. It has been a portal through which we have come to know the most amazing and wonderful group of friends we have ever known.

You are part of our musical family, or better said, we are all part of the same musical family, and that is not contingent on whether you own a Barker Bass.

May 2009 be a year better in every way for you--your list, your dreams, your world. May it be so. And if a Barker Bass is on that list, count on us to work to make that vision a reality for you.

As for us, in our immediate world of four delightful (adult) children and four wondrous grandchildren, we are ever thankful for all the gifts that appear on the horizon and head in our direction.

Stand tall with us.

Lee and Linda Barker

Thanks for the wishes, Lee, and may you enjoy your holidays and family-time as well!!

Very nearly two years into my Barker journey now, and I continually find myself somewhat astonished at how the quirks of fate and time allowed this beautiful bass to land in my hands . And when asked where the bass came from I find myself usually saying something like "Well, there is this guy in Oregon who hand builds ... etc, etc". Perhaps 2009 will allow me to make a visit to the wilds of the NorthWest to meet the maker of such a unique instrument, after which I'll be able to say " Well, the guy who hand builds these basses in Oregon is a friend of mine ... etc, etc" .....

Happy Holidays to all the Barker bass peeps
